Job Description:
The Database Analyst is an integral member of the RVH LEAD Agency ITS team and this position requires a well-rounded Database analyst with 3+ years of experience developing and administering SQL 2008 - 2019 databases. This position requires 3+ years of experience designing, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance tuning development and/or production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability in SQL environments.
The database analyst will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. This role requires someone who is service oriented and a highly motivated individual with a keen sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, and a focused on managing and resolving issues. The data management team has a synergistic working relationship with departments and key stakeholders they support, striving to ensure exceptional data base management, high quality data workflows and optimization of servers, database environments they manage.
This challenging position seeks an individual who is self-directed, analytical, and organized to fill the role of Database Analysts Analyst. This role involves working closely within the Data Management team, the ITS division and hospital partner sites, internal stakeholders, to ensure business needs are met and the facilitation of effective available data for reporting and support solutions that are consistent with organizational goals and objectives. The role will work with our Meditech Platform technical team, managing associated SQL servers and applications. This role is responsible for ensuring clinical and business data is validated, available for reporting, and to ensure system health, responding to alerts as required and monitoring maintenance of clinical and non-clinical databases and servers as needed. This position requires direct communication with other ITS teams internal and hospital partners, and as required functional experts, leaders, and project managers.

- The candidate’s primary role will be the development and implementation of the Enterprise data warehouse (EDW), as well as maintaining a separate reliable SQL data repository.
- The candidate will be responsible for managing database security including user login, access levels, and permission rights to various database objects, tables, stored procedures, and views. The candidate will support both the development of the EDW projects and existing client server and web-based production environments.
- The candidate will have strong T-SQL, SQL Profiler, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS skills
- The candidate will have experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools, and/or 3rd party tools.
- The candidate will ensure documentation on database design is current, the candidate will develop metadata and develop and maintain a data library.
Database Quality and Reporting
- Participate in projects when new database development occurs, identify contemporary trends, system changes and advancements, projects are aligned with best practices as related to database development.
- Provides direction on projects/equipment/solution requirements for department and organization in response to business requirements
- Attend and contribute to Staff Meetings and technical meetings.
- Support and collaborate with colleagues regarding system interoperation.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum of 2 years in a post-secondary specializing in a computer science related field
- MCSE or MCDBA Certification preferred
Experience:
- 3 years experience Database development - SQL 2008 -2019
- MS SQL Server Administration and Development
- Database Backup and Recovery
- Enterprise data warehouse development and maintenance
- Implementing operational automation using scripting tools and techniques
- ETL development in a MS SQL environment
- Business Intelligence and Reporting Dashboard development
- SQL SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Visual Studio experience
- Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL) development experience
- Business intelligence and report extraction experience
Competencies:
- Understand and provide Microsoft SQL server administration.
- Demonstrated ability to manage databases in a large enterprise production and development environment.
- Strong T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS skills and database performance tuning
- Extensive knowledge and hands on experience using MS SQL server
- Excellent skill in problem recognition and problem solving, including critical incident management.
- Self -motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. ·
