The District Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of District Sales Representatives (DSR) to ensure the goals for customer satisfaction, sales growth, analysis and margins are met for their territory.
Carry out ongoing and timely budget reviews, summaries and analysis for the territory and with District Sales Representatives (DSR’s).
Prospect new customer activity, with DSRs and independently.
Monitor and oversee the Sales activities of the DSRs, direct incoming leads to them, and follow up with key customers and the DSRs.
Handle pricing inquiries from customers, DSRs, brokers, and department managers.
Write and implement appropriate contracts which are profitable and meet the overall order mix by working with the DSRs and Product Specialists.
Monitor and maintain deliveries, drops and minimum order requirements, while ensuring both productivity and profitability.
Work with brokers and manufacturing representatives, in conjunction with the DSRs, to arrange for field support and product information and to grow the business on new product items.
Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly sales analysis for the territory.
Assist DSRs in customer reviews.
Assist the DSRs in handling and resolving credit issues that may arise from customers or the Credit Department.
Work with the DSRs to negotiate the price, listing and other variables for any new product required by the new or existing customers.
Provide and coordinate information sessions and plant tours with existing or potential customers.
Mentor and coach DSRs to deal with customer complaints, price quotes and new accounts.
Develop and implement customer development sales strategy with DSRs, which will include projections for items, categories and departments.
Ensure margin management is carried out on all accounts in the territory.
Carry out product research and investigate quality issues, as necessary.

Education, Skills & Competencies:
Post secondary education (Bachelor degree in Sales, Marketing, or other related field ) is preferred.
Minimum 5 years experience in Food Service Sales.
Minimum 3 years experience in a Leadership role.
Experienced with sales and negotiation principles and procedures.
Strong leadership skills including working with a variety of people at all levels of business.
Strong knowledge of the Manitoba restaurant market.
Ability to create and manage an annual budget.
Excellent and professional presentation skills.
Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal.
Must have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Google Applications
Strong business acumen-Knowledgeable in current and future practices, trends and information affecting food service customers.
Proven ability to exceed goals and drive results.
Must be self motivated.
