Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Commercial Operations, are to:

To successfully optimize sales in both the short term and long term by ensuring programs necessary to meet sales objectives are developed and carried through for all sales regions within Canada. Through leadership, motivation and supervision coordinate the sales activities between regions and groups for the full portfolio of integrated business (Crop Protection, Branded Seeds and Traits; and including support of Seed & Trait Licensees, and Climate). Ensure a positive corporate image for Bayer Crop Science within the Agricultural community and channel partners.

Key Tasks:
In agreement with VP Sales, establish on ground sales budgets for Regional Sales and Account Managers in Eastern and Western Canada to deliver top line revenue and profitability for integrated business (Crop Protection, Branded Seeds and Traits; and including support of Seed & Trait Licensees, and Climate)
Develop and initiate through Regional Sales and Account managers, action plans that are aligned with marketing plans to support field staff in meeting or exceeding sales budgets on an annual basis
Provide sales expertise to the area of product development and advertising and promotion in developing necessary programs to realize corporate sales objectives
Ensure regional programs are developed by sales and account managers drive regional sales objectives, within expenditure budgets and align with Canadian Strategic direction and objectives
Ensure grower strategy and targets are aligned with Agronomy team to gain support for sales of Bayer Crop Science products
Inform Canadian management as to progress of Bayer sales and competitive issues as season progresses
Ensure necessary information and resources are available to regional sales and account managers to carry out sales programs effectively
Utilizing strong leadership skills, support coaching, performance management, and development dialogue activities with direct reports to motivate and support career development
Serve as a contact between BCS and distribution and support regional contact with regional distribution contacts to ensure proper forecasting and allocation of products to accomplish sales objectives
Foster and grow the working relationship with distribution management groups to promote and position BCS as preferred supplier of seeds, traits, CP and Climate FieldView
Carry out duties in an professional and ethical manner according to BCS policies and provincial laws of the provincial Institute of Agrologists
Inform VP Sales and Bayer management as to sales progress, competitive environment, customer feedback and inventory levels to support accurate reporting requirements

Your success will be driven by your demonstrations of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possess the following:

Broad understanding of the crop protection business in Canada that provides ability to innovate sales strategies and tactics that will maximize the share and profitability of the company over the long term
A minimum of 10 years of sales and/or marketing experience at management levels
Degree in Agriculture, or Business
Completion of CCSC and P.Ag.
Strong leadership, strategic and business acumen skills
Strong communication and leadership skills
Develop and implement solutions to business based problems that arise as a result of competitive company strategies
Develop and implement diverse market and sales programs with diverse customers to ensure that products are properly positioned in the market in a comprehensive way that does not present conflict with individual customer or with overall corporate strategic direction
To develop and implement strategies that address the change in the farm customer base to insure we are competitive and aligned with agricultural business
Ensure that the overall corporate strategy for BCS on both canola and cereals is implemented through the sales force to maximize opportunities with customers
To effect change in the sales group through leadership and development that ensures the market leading position of our company
