The role

The Senior Manager drives reach, engagement and revenue by helping to develop the CBC’s digital audio strategy and implementing the day-to-day operations that support it.

Your mandate is to optimize audience performance by helping to strategically grow the CBC’s digital listenership and facilitate revenue products that effectively monetize it.

To do so, you will lead and align teams across the CBC, including the content creation groups; revenue and media solutions; the digital product teams; marketing and communications; business intelligence; audience research; the business and rights group; and your counterparts on Feed (CBC.ca) and Watch (CBC Gem). Leadership and collaboration are essential skills for this role.

This is a role in the Digital Strategy group and reports to the Senior Director of CBC Listen.

Areas of responsibility include:
Audience development: Identifying content, distribution, marketing and product development opportunities to drive growth and engagement. Developing audience segments through research, data and testing

Business planning: Developing, in conjunction with other departments, annual business plans for user growth and retention.

Customer lifecycle management: Managing the audience funnel and developing a plan to drive long-term brand affinity, engagement and cost-effective retention

Revenue development: Identifying and prioritizing revenue optimization opportunities and supporting revenue generation by coordinating between the revenue, content and digital product teams

Performance tracking and measurement: Setting up and refining processes to monitor key metrics to measure success and identify issues and opportunities

Planning, communication and coordination: Establishing alignment and planning processes between all of the key groups to drive overall performance

Your qualifications

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Management, Marketing, Communications or equivalent;

Minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following roles (ideally having spent some time managing cross-functional initiatives):

Customer Lifecycle Management

Media operations

Project or Program management in the digital space

B2C service model operations/delivery

Digital marketing operations

Digital retail/e-Commerce

Proven organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to be flexible and adaptable to a changing environment;

Experience with developing or using data-driven decision models;

Understanding of best practices for digital audio environments, membership services and revenue models;

Understanding of digital analytics suites, business performance management, digital/media strategy development/delivery and digital marketing/funnel management principles;

Entrepreneurial spirit with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem solving;

Ability to lead by influence across a wide breadth of stakeholders and experience working in cross-functional teams;

Good verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to take initiative and work autonomously.

Working knowledge of digital media buying, lead generation, and retargeting is an asset.

Past experience/knowledge of B2C service design;

Ability to use project/program management tools and perform topline analyses.
