STREAM 1: Finance Administrative Assistant
This person will provide financial and administrative support including but not limited to:
- Providing financial services including processing accounts payable and receivable transactions in SAP;
- Financial reporting including budget entry and ad hoc reporting;
- Providing procurement services including inventory, procurement and contract entry in SAP;
- Providing information management services including mail and records management.
STREAM 2: Asset Management Administrative Assistant
This person will provide a wide range of financial and administrative support including but not limited to:
General:
- Organizing and providing transactional support in areas such as procurement, material management, records/information management, human resources, information technology, maintain accounts (e.g. utilities, fuel, travel); apply established administrative methods and procedures;
- Providing financial support services, including tracking expenditures;
- Providing information on variances/commitments; accounts receivable services; verify and code financial transactions; and input financial data (e.g. invoices into SAP);
- Coordinating travel, meeting and conference arrangements; composing correspondence; and preparing, editing and/or formatting documentation such as correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, charts, tables, invoices, tenders, and contracts;
- Maintaining and modifying manual and automated databases and information management systems including confidential records;
Maximo:
- Maintaining the Parks Canada Asset Management (Maximo) database. Which has all of the information on our built assets to have accurate, consistent and current information;
- Entering projects, work orders and the preventative maintenance program into the system;
- Completing asset documentation through site visits and photorecording.
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.
Ontario's historic canals are defining features of Canada, governed by Parks Canada who protects and presents these special places to all who visit them.
As a part of Parks Canada, the Ontario Waterways Unit is responsible for both the Rideau Canal and Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Sites.
The Trent-Severn Waterway is a National Historic Site, 386 km in length, which links Lake Ontario at Trenton with Lake Huron at Port Severn on Georgian Bay and attracts about 1.4 million visitors each year offering heritage tourism and recreation.
This process will be used to staff two different types of positions:
STREAM 1: Finance Administrative Assistant
STREAM 2: Asset Management Administrative Assistant
This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures and security levels throughout the Ontario Waterways Unit.

- Successful completion of post-secondary training in a finance or administrative related field (Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, Commerce, Human Resources etc.).

- Recent and relevant experience* in Financial Management tools such as SAP
