ROB Cannabis Professional is a new digital venture of The Globe’s Report on Business newsroom, Canada’s most authoritative business source. It is a daily, premium business-to-business (B2B) newsletter and online hub focusing exclusively on Canada’s cannabis industry, providing the most in-depth business coverage available anywhere. Subscribers will include those working in the cannabis industry, the investment community focused on the industry, policy makers, financial and legal advisors, and the international community who are closely watching the Canadian experience. We have an entrepreneurial team of journalists, marketers, business leaders and technologists who are managing this exciting new start-up within The Globe and Mail.

The Subscription Sales Associate spearheads our digital subscriber acquisition and retention efforts for this product. The successful candidate will work within a small premium product team and business units across The Globe to maximize sales of premium digital subscriptions. The ideal candidate will have experience in the B2B media market with expertise in customer segmentation, prospect targeting, pricing negotiations, and signing up individual/corporate customers. They will also be a primary point of contact to manage ongoing customer relations (onboarding, inquiries, renewals, etc.).

Serve as the key driver to execute subscription acquisitions and renewals for individual and corporate customers.
Work with the team to refine and negotiate pricing guidelines for introductory and long-term rates.
Continuous learning and understanding of the cannabis sector – key players, events, trends, and competing news products.
Develop contacts with customers and key industry contacts to gather insights around trends, challenges and opportunities.
Work with internal/external partners to understand customer behaviour data and develop sales strategies accordingly.
Develop customer acquisition strategies, materials, campaigns, etc. in collaboration with the Marketing team and Editorial staff.
Track churn, gain insight about complaints and termination reasons, and identify opportunities to improve churn.

Solid understanding and experience in B2B journalism products.
Subscription sales experience.
Experience in direct marketing and/or database marketing.
Experience using data and analytics to manage successful customer acquisition and retention campaigns.
Sales-focused individual with experience selling over the phone, e-mail and in person.
Comfortable networking and interacting at industry events.
Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
High level of professionalism with strong attention to detail.
Excellent customer service skills.
