In this exciting and challenging position you will play a key role in maintaining Prince George's parks and playgrounds. You will provide leadership to operational staff engaged in landscape maintenance. The work also involves physical labour, equipment operation, landscaping, report writing, training, and customer service. This position works outdoors in all weather conditions and is subject to shift changes.
As the successful candidate you demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and safety. Required qualifications include: Grade 12, a Class 5 driver's license, at least one year of supervisory experience and at least three years of experience working directly with park maintenance. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must complete one course in a subject related to turf from an accredited post-secondary institution within one year of hire. Level 1 First Aid is preferred or must have the ability to obtain within six months of hire. You also have a basic understanding of the CSA Playground Structure Guidelines, and have the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire. You are skilled in operating a 72" mower.
As a condition of employment, the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check for offenses related to the position. A valid unrestricted Class 5 BC driver's license (or out of province equivalent) is also required.
This summer seasonal position offers a starting wage of $30.54 per hour plus an excellent pension and benefits package.
Permanent summer positions are subject to layoff and are recalled annually.
