In keeping with the Mattamy mission of providing The Best Homeowner Experience, the Senior Financial Analyst provides financial expertise to the Land Development team by partnering with them to help drive strategic planning initiatives and ensure that financial information is prepared and analyzed with a high degree of accuracy and on a timely basis.

Responsibilities

In partnership with the Land Development Managers, compile, analyze and interpret project budgets, proformas and forecasts.
Provide Finance team with commentary on projects through quarterly reviews and investigate and reconcile any variances from actuals versus budget.
Responsible to consolidate quarterly Project Budget Review (PBR) package with inputs from Land Development Managers; manage the schedule of the process; review/complete estimates for finance related costs in PBR (letters of credit charges, commitment fees, interest expense etc.)
Provide guidance to the land team on how to build cash flow forecasts and work with Finance to explain variances month over month
Audit and validate on a monthly basis data in JDE including but not limited to Lot Counts, Lot Master, Land Workbench set-up, acquisition budgets, land jobs and waterfall process, etc.
Work with finance to ensure the Halton Allocation program from a land perspective is complete and accurate including all ongoing internal reporting to Finance and Land
Liaison between Land & Finance; coordinate requests from the finance department with Land Development Managers and Leaders, and provides additional information as requested
Prepare and analyze pertinent schedules and compile supporting documents required for the quarterly and annual audit
Support acquisition investigations through analysis and reporting to the Capital Acquisitions Committee (CAC) and Post Acquisitions Committee (PAC), working closely with Finance
Prepare project related cash flows, land charges and recoveries (internal and external)
Responsible for tax and property assessments and appraisals
Catalogue and maintain land holdings portfolio details on a quarterly basis
Prepare annual budgets for Land Department working with each project manager to vet project assumptions and forecast future costs based on operational input
Manage and prepare annual reporting to the Mattamy Asset Management (MAM) committee including assistance with the Fair Market Value (FMV) annual reporting
Manage lot delivery Order Book and Project Milestone report
What You Bring

CPA / CFA designation and University Degree in Accounting or Finance
3-4 years of experience in a finance department providing value add analysis
Strong understanding of a balance sheet and cash flows
Homebuilding and/or land development experience an asset
Experience with any accounting software packages and ability to quickly learn new software packages. Experience with JD Edwards, Hyperion or Essbase a definite asset
Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills including regular use of functions, pivot tables, etc.
Strong analytical, accounting and organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage time accordingly
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Results oriented with ability to set realistic and attainable goals and meet those on time
Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity
