Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Intermediate Accountant is responsible for the credit
card and balance sheet accounts reconciliation, revenue processing, and provide support to
Accounts Payable. Intermediate Accountant is also responsible for maintaining an effective
accounts receivable function. Experienced in both G/L reconciliation and financial systems such
as Financial Force, Sales Force and vendor management system.


AP Processing:
  • Verify accuracy of invoices and ensure invoices are properly coded and monitor
regular monthly vendor invoices

  • Maintain, reconcile and process all monthly credit card statements and participate in
month end and year end closing cycles

  • Work with budget owners to ensure finance policies and procedures are followed
  • Back up and support Accounts Payable as needed
  • Process employee expense reimbursement requests
Revenue/AR Processing:
  • Prepare bank deposits and deposit revenue in bank accounts, record deposits in
financial system

  • Journalize donation batches and reconcile revenue to financial system
  • Investigate and resolve both internal management and customer queries
  • Apply correct GL account codes to record receivables in financial system
  • Perform Accounts Receivable reconciliation and prepare monthly journal entries
  • Support accurate reporting by performing core tasks in a timely manner, diligently
and with a high standard of quality

  • Responsible for bringing forward to the Finance Manager any potential issues that
could be defined as risks, recommending solutions and carrying out any mitigation
actions, as required

  • Prepare and reconcile Accounts Payable monthly aging report
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations;
Budget and Audit Preparation:
  • Support budget and forecast preparation function
  • Participate in the completion of year-end audit working papers including the
preparation and balancing of schedules and reports

  • Work with management and co-workers on continuous quality improvement
  • Provide vacation backup to other positions as required
  • Participate in month end and year end closing cycles

  • Post-secondary education; combination of experience and formal education will be

  • Experience in a multi-level, not for profit organization is an asset
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of accounting processes, procedures, controls and reporting
including management of accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledgers

  • Sound analytical, problem solving and organizing skills with close attention to detail
and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and accounting software packages
  • Experience with Financial Force would be an asset
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team environment and utilize sound
judgement to perform all assigned duties with minimal supervision

  • Excellent client service skills. Able to handle high volumes and multiple priorities in
a professional, courteous manner while meeting strict deadlines

  • Office Setting, Monday – Friday during business hours
