The Technical Manager determines the strategy for the team to best meet the Food manufacturing division's goals. The role has overall responsibility for the operations of the plant and site change management through leadership of the Shift Managers and the Technical Services group. The role is strategically positioned to drive continuous improvement with the coordinated resources of both groups while focusing on the development of self-managed work cells. Key measurable of the role is setting, meeting, and continually improving plan numbers along with the development of an organizational culture that fosters associate involvement and ownership in area management.
Responsibilities include setting and meeting key operational plan targets, planning and controlling both the Maintenance and the Small Minor CAB budgets, and establishing strategies and plans required to meet Bolton Foods site goals. (e.g. run rates, reliability, etc.).
Responsible for Quality and Food Safety and ensuring that all associates follow Quality and Food Safety Procedures
Responsible for site operations; ensuring that all objectives and strategic plans for immediate and long-term goals are set and achieved through the coaching and development of the Shift Managers and operations associates.
Ensuring that plant performance is continually improving through developing strategic continuous improvement initiatives driven by both projects and effective change management.
A key role is the management and development of the Tech Services associates in order to align activities with Operation's objectives and provide technical support in systems and training.
Providing data to determine the appropriate allocation of resources to best meet Site goals.
Play an active role in the development and implementation of change control initiatives impacting the site.
Play an active role in the execution of Major, Large, and Small Minor project execution
Act as back-up senior site associate and play a key role in developing site direction in conjunction with fellow Management Team.
Take on assignments as required within Mars Food US
Represent the Technical Group at Site Management meetings
Represents the Bolton Site when aligning Best Practices among the Mars Global Foods community
Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures
Maintains a high level of HSE awareness through various means of communications, proactive safety campaigns/incentive programs, and associate involvement, including demonstrable skills assessments, new hire and contractor orientations and continuous learning.
Participates in special projects as requested or volunteered.
Participates in Mars NA Maintenance Excellence
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (or significant proven work experience)
Operation or Technical leadership
Supervision or management experience
Project Management Experience
Operational management principles
Understanding of applicable laws (OHS, ESA, MOL)
Lean business practices
Demonstrated ability to lead and drive change
Knowledge of safety, food safety, HACCP, ISO, SPC
Food processing and materials conversion
