At Youth Connections, we develop and foster healthy relationships. We assist young people to strive towards attaining contentment and future success by recognizing and managing their emotions.
The philosophy of our program revolves around a cognitive behaviour approach which utilizes the milieu to encourage and reinforce change. Keeping this in mind, staff must take every opportunity to help our clients develop healthy attitudes. Remember also, that these boys may have learned their present means of interacting through witnessing unhealthy relationships coupled with inappropriate coping mechanisms. As such, we do not expect that they will initially be compassionate, understanding, or empathic. Thus we need to confront, counsel (using group, individual and familial approaches) and reinforce change through role modeling.

This program will attempt to alter some of their previously developed strategies. We will thus keep in mind specific target areas and direct all approaches towards what we are trying to accomplish.
