Director eCommerce & User Experience

The Shopping Channel is seeking a Director of Ecommerce & User Experience (UX) to join our online team. Reporting to the Senior Director od Digital, the Director of UX will be tasked with continually improving User Experience on theshoppingchannel.com/tsc.ca and other digital properties with an overall goal of improving digital sales conversion, driving profitable revenue growth and elevate content to entertain, educate and convert.
The successful candidate will be a passionate and energetic leader with strong analytical skills, experience leading teams – ideally across both business teams and IT, familiarity with Ecommerce platforms (e.g. WebSphere, ATG, Salesforce, Adobe or equivalent; Endeca, etc.), working knowledge of back end systems (e.g. pricing feeds, inventory, etc.), experience using web analytics to deeply understand user behaviour and drive short and long term improvements in user experience.
The Director of eCommerce & User Experience will be part of the Ecommerce business team, and will also work closely with the Ecommerce IT team.
Be a key contributing member of the Ecommerce senior leadership team; providing thought leadership to drive a strategy for sustainable profitable growth for theshoppingchannel.com
Lead the Ecommerce user experience team (developers and analysts)
Develop a rigorous data-driven roadmap of enhancements to drive improved customer experience and site productivity across all key digital platforms (desktop, tablet, mobile)
Understand and continuously monitor key website metrics (e.g. major traffic sources, purchase conversion funnel, bounce rates, SEO etc.) to develop a deep understanding of customer behaviour and to drive continuous improvement and revenue growth
Work closely with digital marketing and web merchandising teams to maximize productivity of website traffic generated through marketing activities (SEM, SEO, email, affiliates, etc.)
Act as key liaison between the Ecommerce business and IT teams; prioritize capital investments based on expected impact on site revenue and customer experience; develop business cases and other documentation to support capital investments; support development of website enhancements
Ensure that productivity of end to end purchase conversion funnel is maximized; quickly identify opportunities for improvement; initiate and drive short, medium- and long-term enhancements to grow sales
Continually monitor industry best practices from a user experience perspective and measure the shoppingchannel.com against best in class
Design, build and manage an in-house usability testing program to gather feedback from existing and prospective customers
Undergraduate degree in Business, Technology, Marketing, Engineering or other technical discipline; MBA an asset
5+ years’ experience in Ecommerce retail, in an analytical and/or website development function
Experience working with Ecommerce software platforms such as WebSphere, Salesforce or ATG and related platforms such as
Endeca, Content Management Systems, Adobe, etc.
Solid understanding of social platforms and latest technology
Working knowledge of back end retail/ERP systems, how they tie to front end and impact online customer experience
Experience working with and driving actionable insights from web analytics platforms such as Omniture and/or Google Analytics
Familiarity with usability testing methodologies and processes
Ability to work with stakeholders across functions in a matrix organization
Proven track record of driving improved business results by identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve productivity
