Brief Description
We’re hiring one (1) Full-time permanent role.

As the Manager, Regional Water Accounting, you will be accountable for the performance of the financial reporting and analysis functions for Regional Water Accounting. In addition, you will ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis.

Detailed Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Planning & Regional Water Accounting, you will be accountable for (but not limited to):

Providing input to the Planning and Regional Water Accounting plans and directions.
Developing and implementing appropriate deliverables within the context of the Planning and Regional Water Accounting business plan.
Identifying the necessary budget requirements for the provision of accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis for Regional Water.
Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics.
Providing guidance and review for planning, organizing and ensuring the completion of accurate financial reporting for Regional Water.
Ensuring the satisfaction of operations management through the provision of customer focused financial analysis and expertise.
Developing, implementing and reviewing financial reporting and analysis processes within Regional Water to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure the mitigation of risks.
Providing guidance and reviewing the completion of budgets and forecasts for Regional Water Accounting in collaboration with the Manager, Planning and Reporting.
Providing guidance to staff while ensuring the completion of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and external audit process requirements.
Ensuring adherence to IFRS, particularly the guidance and policies related to revenue recognition, construction accounting and lease accounting.
Ensuring timely and accurate integration of the administration and accounting for new or amended commercial contracts, and providing input in the review of commercial contracts through cooperation with the Manager, Planning and Reporting.
Supporting operations management and Senior Manager, Planning and Regional Water Accounting by ensuring the provision of customer focused operational financial support and analysis within Regional Water by leading a team that has a thorough understanding of the Commercial contracts review and financial modelling and provides commercial minded analysis to assist in decision making.
Developing and supporting continuous improvement in the area of budgets and forecasts and accounts receivable through identifying areas and ideas for improvement and carrying out continuous improvement initiatives.

Hiring, developing, coaching and leading a strong team of employees, including determination of optimal numbers, recruitment, retention, and development.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

An accredited accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, and CGA)
Diploma or Degree (or Equivalent) in Business, Finance or Accounting from a recognized post-secondary institution
At least 7+ years of experience in progressively responsible accounting roles
At least 2+ years of supervisory experience
Understanding of current accounting guidance and policies, with a focus on revenue recognition, construction accounting and lease accounting.
Understanding of EPCOR Financial Processes will be considered an asset
Demonstrated capability to apply the relevant knowledge and technical skills to monitor the adherence to financial accounting practices, policies and accounting standards.
Demonstrated capability to apply the relevant knowledge and technical skills to provide operations management with relevant financial analysis and input and to review contracts to provide feedback on administrative processes and day-to-day accounting.
Demonstrated understanding of the operations in Regional Water Accounting; including contracts within the context of which these operations are performed.
Understanding and use of Oracle financial system and related support systems will be considered an asset
Understanding and use of Excel applications for financial model development.

Hours of work: 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week

Please note the following information:
A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
If you are being considered for a driving position, a current 5 year commercial Driver Abstract will be required.
A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
