Data Analytics & Reporting
Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Risk Methodology, Analytics & Reporting, this role is accountable for specialized credit risk analysis, risk rating systems and introducing new methodologies and statistical techniques to support credit risk management activities. The Senior Analyst provides analytical expertise to support the development, validation, monitoring, reporting and documentation of, Stress testing, Basel risk rating systems and IFRS-9 models, credit risk scorecards and credit risk strategies. The role is also accountable for creating datasets for model development, building new models, validating existing models, running statistical tests, creating segmentation files and documenting all activities.
1. Credit Risk Management
Responsible for the development of BMO and/or Harris datasets for credit risk analysis purposes
Responsible for the development and validation of predictive models and decision trees
Responsible for the monitoring, analysis and reporting of credit portfolios including probablility of default, loss given default and exposure at default
Responsible for detailed documentation corresponding to statistical analysis and results
Responsible for change management activities including the creation and management of change logs
Responsible for the development, timely delivery, and monitoring of Capital at Risk annual plan information
Responsible for the development and delivery of segmentation files to other areas of the bank
2. Specialized Model Development
Responsible for specialized support for the development, scoring and implementation of credit risk models for BMO and/or Harris portfolios
Responsible for specialized support for the development of predictive models and decision trees to predict PD, LGD and EAD
Responsible for the development, documentation, and validation of models to support credit risk strategies and key compliance activities
Responsible for the analysis, validation and monitoring of model performance
3. Project Management and Mentoring
Responsible for managing larger scale projects with broader strategic implications
Responsible for mentoring analysts and interns in order to deliver on projects
Responsible for creating detailed documentation and change logs to manage changes for regulatory purposes
Graduate University Degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research or Business , or Undergraduate degree with comparable work experience
At least two years previous work experience in an analytical role using SAS or any other statistical/data mining software
Very strong analytical and technical skills required including quantitative analysis (strong time series analysis) , programming and statistical model development
Strong mainframe, UNIX and PC skills
Experience with statistical software packages, including SAS and KnowledgeStudio
Experience with manipulating data using Excel and SQL
Excellent knowledge of bank products and credit lending services
Knowledge of the Basel Capital Accord
Knowledge of Stress testing/IFRS-9 requirements
Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
Excellent analytical and technical skills
Excellent writing skills
Excellent time management, planning and organizing skills to manage multiple priorities and deliver quickly under pressure
