This Instructor - Child Health Instructor position functions as a key support for public health staff and management, combining clinical expertise in public health nursing along with demonstrated skill in performance development. The Child Health Instructor provides leadership support and education/training to Nurse II positions in Public Health who in turn provide leadership and guidance to front line staff. The Consultant facilitates integration of best practices into service delivery and supports the achievements of delivering safe, quality care in the specific program areas.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Immunization. Experience in a leadership role. Ability to work independently and self-directed. Strong critical thinking and decision making skills. Knowledge of the Determinants of Health. Ability to adapt to changing work environment in a multidisciplinary team. Strong Leadership, written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with computers and electronic documentation platforms. Educator, coordination, implementation and evaluation of clinical best practice skills in well child clinics. Skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered.
Preferences will be given to applicants with recent Clinical Development Nurse experience. Experience with Meditech EMR.
