The opportunity

The Field Work Planner will work jointly with plant managers, field technicians/operators, engineers and project managers to coordinate and schedule work at various assets in the Power and Storage business unit in Alberta and New Brunswick. The position will be based out of the Crossfield, AB office (or another suitable field office depending on candidate location) however travel to other Alberta assets will be required on a regular basis.

This position may require long periods at a work station and may be required to drive long distances, be exposed to field operations and construction environments, as well as travel on short notice to other company locations which may involve some overnight stays away from home. Hours of work may need to be extended as business needs arise.

What you’ll do

In addition to focusing on work scheduling and coordination of short to intermediate term activities, achieving high levels of productivity, safety, equipment reliability and availability and environmental compliance, the Field Work Planner (FWP) role will:
Develop short term one to six-month area work plans incorporating maintenance programs, regulatory compliance activities, project support and corrective maintenance work
Perform backlog reviews to identify trends, common issues, repetitive problems and anomalies;
Communicate with operations and maintenance personnel via regular reporting and weekly maintenance planning meetings
Work with Facilities maintenance and operation personal to ensure work orders are fully planned (technically and financially) before being scheduled

Plan and execute corrective and preventative work including:
Scope development
Coordination of materials and services with supply chain services
On site support of maintenance activities
Maintain SAP data to ensure validity and accuracy of equipment, maintenance plans and tasks
Coordinate SAP notifications for the Power and Storage business unit
Provide work management related training and roll out as required
Support improvements and changes related to the work management process

Minimum Qualifications

Red Seal certification such as but not limited to Industrial Electrician, Instrument Technician or Millwright
Minimum 6 to 8 years of work experience in Industrial or Energy sector preferably in a combined cycle Power Plant environment
Strong knowledge and experience with SAP

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a diploma from a college or technical school is an asset
Capability and flexibility to respond to time pressure by adjusting work hours to meet critical deadlines
Ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams
Detail oriented with good organizational and planning skills
Ability to prioritize and manage numerous competing work requests and expectations simultaneously
Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
Application of analytical and reporting skills to communicate work progress and variances
