The award-winning Vancouver Convention Centre is currently in search for a General Accountant, Accounts Receivable (Contract) to join our team to complete an 18 month contract. This integral role will report directly to the Assistant Controller. As part of the Accounting team, the General Accountant, Accounts Receivablewill ensure the organization is paid for its services in a timely and efficient manner, as we work together to achieve our vision to be the global leader in outstanding venues and events.

  • Using your accounting and finance knowledge, you will create and manage accounting figures and reports, prepare client invoices and deposits with accuracy and within established time frames as well as follow up on overdue deposits, invoice payments and collections.
  • You will also record payments made by credit card, wire transfer or cheque, and process credits for event refunds in EBMS.
  • Using your analytical skills, you will research, investigate, and resolve payment discrepancies and customer queries in a timely manner.
  • Assist with ad-hoc accounting duties and special projects as requested.


  • You bring the combination of education, training, and experience in Finance and Accounting with experience specifically in accounts receivable and financial analysis.
  • You will be familiar with centralized financial software programs.
  • You do everything within your role to meet or exceed guest/client expectations.
  • You demonstrate exceptional communication skills and are comfortable using a broad range of communications styles to different audiences in diverse situations.
  • You will also possess a high degree of organization, detail orientation, and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • You must be mentally and physically fit to sit for extended periods of time to complete extensive computer work.
