We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our innovative and highly sought-after Business Affairs team.

A little bit about our team:
Warner Music Canada is home to some of the most influential and innovative artists of our time. Our extraordinary roster of new and established recording artists is unparalleled, and our collective influence on music culture is without precedent. With a visionary approach toward discovering and nurturing musical talent, the Warner Music Canada family of labels is currently home to an impressive generation of major artists.

Here you’ll be able to:
Assist with the negotiation and drafting of a wide variety of local artist and associated contracts and digital service provider (“DSP”) agreements
Coordinate and prepare executive summaries of contractual terms for artist and DSP deals to submit to Warner’s head office for approval prior to execution of deals
Prepare a summary of global digital deals signed by head office as they relate to Canada
Ensure that the standard contract forms used in Canada are updated with any head office requirements
Coordinate government lobbying efforts with Music Canada (e.g., copyright reform)
Assist with the review and settlement of any artist/rights holder audit
Draft responses to any interrogatories served on Warner as a result of any Copyright Tariff proceedings
Assist with the resolution of any conflicts as a result of third parties claiming rights to Warner Recordings at ReSound
Other special projects as required

It would be music to our ears if you also had:
Recognized Canadian law degree and university education
A minimum of 2+ years’ post call experience as a lawyer
A firm understanding of copyright law
Experience with copyright law or entertainment industry contracts would be an asset but is not required
A sound business/financial acumen is beneficial
Excellent communication skills
Excellent drafting skills
