Reporting to the Senior Vice President, you will provide support for maintaining the H&S management system and implementation of existing and new H&S initiatives.

Process and manage WSIB claims, objections and appeals across the organization. Provide expert advice and support to regions and corporate. Act as liaison for WSIB, obtaining legal recommendations when necessary.
Coordinate with front-line staff and management to ensure that all workplace injuries are promptly reported, Form 7s issued and MW offers provided in writing at time of report, to mitigate lost time costs.
Ensure that employees on MW longer than 12 weeks are managed, with up-to-date FAFs on file
Support ESDC site audits and compliance
Together with employees, regional HR managers, managers and supervisors within the business units, you will develop, implement and monitor return to work programs ensuring compliance for legislation and the Company’s Early and Safe Return to Work Program. Facilitate Return to Work meetings with the WSIB.
Preparation and presentation of reports relating to workers’ compensation costs, experience ratings, rebates/surcharges and NEER projections on a quarterly basis or as required from all provinces and territories.
Review of all historical claims in current experience years, in all provinces for potential cost relief or subrogation. Preparation and submission of cost relief documentation.
Act as OH&S advisor to Human Resources for temporary/permanent accommodations relating to work injuries.
Educate and advise and provide training to managers in matters of workers’ compensation policy and procedures.
Advise and assist with the development of company policies and procedures relating to all matters of disability claims management and occupational health and safety.
Compile Company-wide claim and H&S statistics through monthly reporting.
Complete Physical Demands Analysis as required.
Manage H&S at the Corporate and/or regional office; attend and participate in the Corporate JHSC meetings.

EDUCATION:
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety/Disability Management is a definite asset
Post-secondary education in related field

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
WCB Adjudicator/Case Management with 10 years experience required.
Expert knowledge required in all Provincial WCB policy and procedure, Federal Health and Safety legislation and insurance benefit plans.
Unionized environment experience an asset
Excellent organizational skills to effectively organize and prioritize workload within a fast-paced environment
Work effectively in multi-disciplinary team environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
