Barrick is looking for a Project Procurement Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Project Controller and they will be responsible for assisting in procurement and contracts processes for Capital Projects. The Procurement and Contracts Analyst will define end-user requirements, compile specifications, issue RFP’s, facilitate tender processes, negotiate contracts and agreements and work on contract formation.
Conduct sourcing processes on specialized procurement work by proactively facilitating the entire RFP, including the development of vendor lists, selection criteria, service and material requirements, contract management, bid file documentation, bid openings, change orders and issuing approved competitive documentation.
Responsible for delivering on-time contracts to meet end-user requirements, ensuring that Capital Project schedules are met.
Ensure timely and professional service to end-user departments in the preparation and evaluation of bids, negotiation with suppliers, and adjudication of tender processes.
Negotiate, draft and award contracts, agreements and amendments, as well as manage, terminate and close out contracts as and when required.
Develop and maintain contract documentation and support contract management throughout the timeline of the service.
Support the continuous improvement and execution of Barrick’s sourcing strategy, policies and guidelines for service agreements and contracts.
Acquire materials according to the operations requirements, obtaining the best total cost of ownership, term of execution and quality conditions.
Develop and foster successful, long-term relationships with stakeholders and key suppliers.
Issue and Maintain the Purchasing Schedule and Procurement Register
Communicate any significant revisions regarding delivery times to the Project Manager
Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to the Procurement function
Provide advanced system and technical expertise of purchasing systems and the development and maintenance of contracting templates in accordance with Corporate policy and industry best practices.
Administer, coordinate and process purchasing instruments (i.e. contracts, purchase orders, etc.) for goods and services. Ensure consistency and compliance with terms and conditions, governing legislation, procurement and contracting policies, guidelines, procedures and signing authorities.
Record, monitor, reconcile, and report contracting and procurement activities, expenditures and commitments.
Assist in the training of all levels of staff.
Maintain the confidentiality of all Corporation information.
Maintain safe working conditions
Demonstrate social awareness, commitment and compliance with Barrick’s Social Responsibility Policy.
Perform other duties as assigned and required.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related field.
Minimum 4+ years relevant qualifications / experience in procurement and managing big tender processes in the mining sector.
Excellent knowledge of end-to-end supply management processes including competitive bidding, contract management and supplier performance management.
PMAC / SCMP certification preferred
Ability to effectively plan, execute and deliver.
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills & the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Highly driven and self-motivated, strong negotiation skills, conflict resolution, able to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficient computer skills with advance skills in MS Office applications, specifically Excel.
Previous experience working with Oracle ERP system and Ariba Network.

The Hemlo property consists of Williams Operating Corporation, an underground and open pit mine, located approximately 350 kilometers east of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
