Chances Castlegar is looking for outgoing, professional, guest service driven individual lead our Food & Beverage Team. You will be responsible for responsible for daily operation of the restaurant as well as the recruitment and coaching staff. You will provide exceptional services to our guests while also maintaining regard for our rules and regulations. This position requires flexibility for scheduling including days, evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts. Please come the facility with an updated resume and ask to speak with Shift Manager.

General Summary: Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the workers and resources of the Food and Beverage Department for the efficient, well-prepared and profitable service of food and beverage.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

Daily Operations: Oversee the daily operations of B’s Public House. To work alongside the Kitchen Manager and General Manager to ensure the standards of both food service and production are consistently high and that the agreed standards are maintained, regularly tested and reviewed. To help supervise the operation to maximize profitability, minimize legal liability and conform to alcoholic beverage regulations.

Hiring, Training and Managing staff: To coordinate training for the staff to make sure they are all well trained, courteous and reliable to keep operations running smoothly. To monitor traits in the employees daily and deal with any problems that may arise right away to ensure staff coverage and customer satisfaction. To work with the Kitchen Manager to make sure all new staff are provided with training so they will understand the restaurant’s philosophy and management expectations.

Financial Responsibility: Work with General Manager and Kitchen Manager to adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply and labour costs.

Responsible Gambling: To work alongside Chances Castlegar’s RG designate and staff to educate all food and beverage staff about our commitment to ensuring that all gambling activities are carried out in a socially responsible manner and to provide education, information and support to our employees and patrons on how gambling works, tools and resources available and the VSE program. The Food and Beverage Manager is required to be an active member of our RG Committee which meets on a quarterly basis.

Guest Service: Ensure positive guest service in all areas of the food and beverage department. Respond to complaints taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests. To provide a strong presence in the community and a high level of community involvement that reflects the business in a positive manner. Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress. Evaluate guest feedback and take relevant action on feedback points received.

Catering Sales Manager: Responsibilities of the Catering Sales Manager include, but are not limited to: assisting clients with all details of event planning including menu selection, food and beverage coordination, room set-up, decoration options, etc.; completing banquet orders to ensure that operating departments have all information in an appropriate timeframe; acting as a liaison between clients and operations staff to ensure that arrangements are executed properly and to ensure complete guest satisfaction; post-event follow up to secure repeat business.

Special Events Coordinator: Plan, organize and market special events with the assistance of General Manager, Kitchen Manager and Shift Managers.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing
  • Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • GPEB Approval
  • Completion of the following prerequisites: Art Completion Certificate, AML completion certificate, serving it right, Lottery Training
  • Extensive background in the food and beverage industry
