The Manager, Business Intelligence and Data is a key role with strategic and operational dimensions. The Manager, Business Intelligence has a mandate to lead and facilitate a robust Business Intelligence function across the company. The Business Intelligence and Data function drives corporate performance and success by ensuring decision-makers have cost-effective and reliable access to quality data and access to tools to analyze data to create strategic business advantage and value. The Manager, Business Intelligence and Data is responsible for ensuring that A&W’s data and analytics environments are designed, implemented and administered to anticipate and meet evolving business needs in the context of A&W’s Strategy and rapidly changing consumer markets, technologies, data sources and analytical tools.

Based at A&W’s Corporate Home Office in North Vancouver, the position reports to the VP, Business Optimization and Results and manages a team of 2 direct reports, including the Data Architect and Data Systems Analyst. The Manager, Business Intelligence and Data is responsible for prioritizing corporate analytics projects and for ensuring such projects are successfully completed, on time and on budget. The position works closely with a broad range of internal clients, including members of A&W's Information Technology, Marketing, Operations and Finance teams as well as with external partners.

The candidate must be a curious, strategic leader with the ability to create and implement a vision for how technology and data can be harnessed and used to create meaningful business intelligence across a fast-paced, consumer-facing enterprise. The candidate must have the proven ability to see linkages between data and have a collaborative, proactive style that enables the company to wisely invest in and use data and tools that allow decision-makers to harvest meaningful insights that assist effective decision-making. With substantive business acumen, the candidate must have the ability to identify and set priorities and to work cross-functionally and across all levels of an organization. A coach and mentor, the candidate must have the desire, talent and proven capacity to support, engage and lead a team. Able to see the big picture and with a solid understanding of practices and trends in business analytics, systems development, relational databases, data warehousing and third-party data vendors, the candidate must have a post-secondary degree with a focus on information technology and at least 10 years of experience in progressively more senior roles involved with business analytics.

The candidate must possess a "can-do" attitude and superb problem-solving, time-management, influencing, negotiation and technical skills. A flexible, organized self-starter and proven leader with a strong drive for results and high integrity, the candidate must have abundant comment sense, the ability to make decisions and the judgment to know when to escalate matters
