Calgary Alternative Support Services is continously looking for people to support our clients on a casual basis at our Langin Place and Stepping Stone Mannor locations.
Langin Place and Stepping Stone are permanent supportive housing facilities for individuals that suffer from complex mental health and addiction issues. The successful applicant must have an understanding of the Harm Reduction and Person-Centred Models of Services.
The Relief Support Worker position is responsible for but not limited to;
Walk arounds on a random schedule ensuring outside doors are locked and secured
Ensure only tenants and supervised guests are in the building
Mediate any potential problems between tenants and guests, or any outside agencies
Intervention and support services for tenants as situations arise
Maintain communication log and write up incident reports when required
Light janitorial duties
All CASS Staff must provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire (a criminal record check completed within the last six months is acccepted).
Social Services Diploma/Degree or equivalent
The successful applicant will have/or complete the following training within three months of being hired; Suicide Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and Aboriginal Awareness (if not part of formal education). Abuse Awareness Training, First Aid, Crisis Prevention/Intervention, and Health & Safety. Some of these courses are available through CASS.
Experience supporting individuals with mental health and addictions issues.
A Police Information and Vulnerable Sector Check less than 6 months old.
Understanding of Harm Reduction and the Person Centered Service Model
