The Climate Action Secretariat [CAS] is the central government agency responsible for leading and coordinating research, analysis, development and implementation of programs, policies and legislation enabling mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. CAS works collaboratively across the provincial public sector, other orders of government, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and professional and industry associations to achieve provincial climate change goals.
The Climate Partnership and Engagement Branch facilitates partnerships and engagement with domestic and international Stakeholders, Indigenous Peoples and other levels of government to implement government climate action priorities.
The Partnerships Team is made up of experienced professionals that develops climate partnerships with industry stakeholders, other levels of government and other provincial agencies with a focus on transportation and the built environment to meet BC’s climate goals.
The Manager, Climate Infrastructure Programs, within the Partnerships directorate oversees the administration of the CleanBC Communities Fund, is the Secretariat lead for the Low Carbon Economy Fund (LCEF) in collaboration with Environment and Climate Change Canada and implementing provincial BC Ministries such as MAH. The Manager responsible for: building funding criteria, assessment of proposals, development of contracts and delivery of projects ensuring that there are measurable GHG emissions reductions outcomes for the CleanBC Communities Fund; ; working directly with CSNR to ensure that all financial and program update material and GHG outcomes are submitted to the Federal government; provide advice on the development of Treasury Board submissions developed by Low Carbon Economy Portfolio members; develop the treasury board submissions for phase 2 and 3 of the CleanBC Communities Fund.

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
A Bachelor’s degree in economics, community planning, political science, business, public administration, science or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of recent (within the last 5 years), related experience* OR
A minimum of 5 years of recent (within the last 7 years) related experience*
- Recent, related experience must include all of the following:
Providing advice and recommendations to senior executives (e.g. Director, Executive Director, Assistant Deputy Minister, Deputy Minister, Minister, Cabinet or equivalent senior executive role).
Leading and managing all aspects of a public sector policy, program or initiative of similar size and complexity.
Working in close collaboration with a wide network of partners to provide recommendations and influence organizational change.
Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following:
Experience leading the development and oversight of large, complex funding programs.
Experience or education (i.e. minimum Diploma or Certificate) related to climate change.
Establishing relationships with a wide network of partners including representatives from all levels of government, industry, Indigenous groups, environmental organizations and/or stakeholders.
Managing contracts and/or expenditures ensuring compliance with fiscal parameters and the prudent use of financial resources.
Providing leadership and direction to senior professionals in a union environment.
A Master’s degree in economics, community planning, political science, business, public administration, science or a related discipline.
