Trans Am Piping Products Ltd. Is currently looking for an IT ANALYST / SENIOR SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

The successful candidate will work with management and business users to drive our business requirements and translate these requirements into an effective system solution that adds value for Trans Am.

The IT Analyst / senior systems programmer is responsible for development and maintenance of the company’s technological needs. This role requires a strong understanding of computer and information systems, programming, attention to detail, effective communication, problem solving, and the ability to multi-task and manage / prioritize employee requests.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Analyzing, developing, testing, implementing, documenting and maintaining multiple applications and interfaces to systems using various technologies
  • Designing, developing, implementing & coordinating systems, policies & procedures also ensuring security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Supporting the company’s information technology & computer systems
  • Ensuring the integration of all aspects of technology solutions
  • Identifying problematic IT areas and implement strategic solutions to optimize technology systems
  • Supporting a regular audit of IT and programming systems and assess their outcomes
  • Preserving information security and control structures
  • Providing subject matter expertise in software and systems development (designing, coding and testing), ensuring that information technology solutions meet business objectives and are compatible with Trans Am’s overall business strategy.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Operating Systems – IBM I
  • Programming Languages/Applications - RPG IV and RPG free programming skills, Rational Developer for I, SQL, Embedded SQL
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail

To be Successful, you will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of demonstrated practical experience as an IT Analyst / Programmer
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience (degree related to computer science preferred)
  • Experience in business analysis, functional solutions design and delivery
  • Customer-service oriented approach to helping employees with their technology requests and challenges
  • Demonstrate understanding and adherence to a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work cooperatively and be willing to assist others
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities
