Job Description
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, ADULT SITES (Montreal Neurological Hospital, Lachine Hospital, Montreal General Hospital and Glen site)

Under the general direction of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Director of Professional Services, the Associate Director of Professional Services supports the work in the directorate by assuming responsibilities and special mandates for the adult sites. The Associate Director (ADPS) supports the work of the Clinical Department Chiefs with respect to the management of resources and organization and provision of services. The ADPS adult sites ensures the proper functioning of the Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists (CPDP), and collaborates when required with the Senior Management team of the MUHC. He/she assures the development, implementation, and application of policies and programs for areas under jurisdiction. He/she also assures the quality and delivery of clinical Services and programs to hospital users at the adult sites of the MUHC. The ADPS is active in supporting the activities of the McGill RUIS, vetting the organizational impacts of clinical research and supports the Groupe Interdisciplinaire de Soutien (GIS) for end of life care at the MUHC.

Plans and coordinates the allocation of resources in collaborat ion with the Clinical Department Heads and the Senior Management team to ensure optimization of clinical and support services in line with the organizational mission.
Assures the development, implementation, and application of policies and clinical programs for areas under jurisdiction.
Assures the accessibility, quality and delivery of clinical services and programs to the adult sites and the necessary coordination with other institutions.
Assumes, with the DPS, the management responsibilities and support of the Emergency Departments (adults sites) including patient flow coordination amongst the various adult clinical services.
Participates in the ongoing development and testing of emergency measures and disaster planning of the MUHC.
Plans and coordinates with the Partnership office of the MUHC the corridors of clinical services between the MUHC and its network partners.

Required Skills
M.D. and member in good standing with the Collège des médecins du Québec,
Master’s Degree in Health Management or equivalent experience,
5-10 years senior management experience in health care sector,
Knowledge and comprehension of Quebec law governing health and social services, access to information, youth protection, and the civil code,
Familiarity and experience with ethical issues involving medical care,
Familiarity with legal and professional structures affecting Quebec hospital activities,
Thorough familiarity with the organizational network of health and social services and the network of teaching hospitals and institutions,
Leadership and team building skills,
Strong analytical skills and ability to provide strategic direction, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
Proficiency in negotiation,
Computer literate,
Bilingualism (French and English) - written and spoken.
