As the Business Development - Investor Relations officer, you are one-part strategic advisor, one-part expert fundraiser, and one-part skilled relationship manager. You are a motivated “hunter” and are comfortable engaging the C-suite level with large corporations. This position will report directly to the Executive Director.
In this role, you will focus on the acquisition of companies within Grande Prairie and Northwestern Alberta currently not engaged with United Way. You will build relationships, foster prospects, and create a pipeline. You will develop strategies for corporate clients that include impact investment, reputation solutions, and employee engagement. You are motivated by making a difference in communities, and for helping corporate partners achieve better business outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:
Minimum requirements include a bachelor degree with at least 2 years of progressive experience in a similar role, and at least three to five years of experience in a leadership role. Requires consultative sales experience and strategic philanthropy knowledge, skills and abilities. Ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to successfully deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Some travel expected.
This position is a part-time 21 hours per week but can be very flexible. Wage dependent on experience.

Our United Way serves an area of roughly one-quarter of Alberta, from Grande Cache to the NWT border and from Slave Lake to the B.C. border. We focus on ensuring the funding we provide our community partners has a significant positive impact in our communities and is based on outcome measures and identified need.
Every year we allocate money to approximately 30 programs. For maximum community impact, we focus on Poverty Reduction, Strong Communities, and Successful Kids. We believe that to address those issues in a meaningful way, we will need to increase our resources.
The United Way is a voluntary organization whose mission is to acquire and coordinate resources to improve the quality of life for people in need.
