RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Construction and/or the direction of the Foreman or Senior Crew Leader, is responsible as assigned for the construction, alteration, relocation, replacement and disconnection of natural gas transmission lines, including compression and measurement facilities and above ground appurtenances. This will require working with pressurized gas under controlled situations with due precautions for safety.

Key Tasks:

  • Equipment operation (specifically track hoe and skid steer)
  • Hand digging and shoveling
  • Assisting in pipelines construction
  • Driving vehicles up to 2 tons
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Other general labour duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • A valid Alberta Class “5” driver’s license is required.
  • Equipment operating experience, specifically a track hoe, is desirable.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Must display good verbal and written communication skills, decision making skills, and strong work ethics, and be able to maintain and promote good working relationships and excellent customer service.
  • Experience in the construction, alteration, relocation and disconnection of natural gas distribution pipelines and related facilities is desirable.
  • Knowledge of company standards, policies and procedures pertaining to the gas distribution system is desirable.
  • Understanding of company safety policies, procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations is an asset.
  • Familiarity with various regulatory codes governing the natural gas industry is desirable.
  • Must demonstrate responsible work habits, learning ability, technical aptitude, mechanical ability and have normal good health for work activities that can be physically challenging.
  • Ability to interpret plans, working drawings and material specification is desirable.
  • Must be able and prepared to work in all types of weather.
  • Final candidates will be required to undergo high school diploma or GED verification, security clearance check and pre-employment physical testing, which includes alcohol and drug screening.
