FETAL ALCOHOL SPECTRUM DISORDER (FASD) 9WORKER
Full-time, Permanent, Salaried
Reporting to the Contact Manager, the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Worker will lead the development of responsive, individual, strengths-based support plans in collaboration with families of children/youth affected by FASD.
Work with the family, service providers and educators to build capacity for supporting the child/youth and identify strategies to meet specific needs of the child/youth and family based on the best available evidence of FASD supports
Provide direct intervention support, collaboration and system navigation across multiple sectors, such as health, education, youth justice, community and social services
Work at the local systems level to improve awareness of FASD and support local cross-sectoral planning tables to identify gaps and opportunities for improving supports for FASD.
Successful completion of a University degree in the social sciences, focus of study should be on child/youth development, or an acceptable equivalent of post-secondary training and extensive experience
Five years work-related experience with families of children/youth with multiple and/or complex special needs, developmental services, child/youth mental health services or other vulnerable or at-risk populations with particular skills in areas of service coordination
Assessment skills for identifying child, youth and families strengths and needs across developmental domains
Knowledge of Haldimand & Norfolk counties and surrounding areas
Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of virtual service provision
Excellent verbal, oral and written communication skills
Criminal & Judicial Matters and Vulnerable Sector Record Check, Children’s Aid Society Declaration & Release
Possession of a valid driver’s licence, satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, $2 million liability insurance and use of a vehicle
Proof of full COVID-19 Vaccination Status or Medical Exemption.
