Coral Beach Farms is a fully integrated sweet cherry producer, headquartered in Lake Country, BC. This growing operation, which maintains several unique geographical locations throughout the North Okanagan Valley, is the largest cherry organization in Canada. We are seeking to fill the positions of Spray Operator for the 2020 season.
Handling and application of nutrients, pesticides, and fertilizers.
Calibrates sprayers and chemical application equipment.
Applies nutrients, pesticides and fertilizers to crops at recommended rates and times.
Safe, efficient and responsible operation of equipment, such as, blowers, mulchers, mowers.
Inspects equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Assist in the delivery of nutrients, pesticides, parts, fluids as needed.
Maintains work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices and in compliance with WorkSafeBC and WHMIS.
Identifying equipment and maintenance issues and communicating to the mechanic.
Taking part in Health and Safety training.
Approved Tractor Operator Ticket (or willing to obtain)
Fluent in English (Spanish is an asset)
Must be in good health and able to carry out physically demanding tasks as required.
Must be a flexible team player who works well in a busy and demanding environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Good eye for detail and quality maintenance.
Able to work for extended periods of time in a focused, safe and professional manner.
Our working environment is extremely demanding over a short time period. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and picking season.
Work hours are not calendar based, but are dependent on crop maturity and weather.
During certain times of the year, night shifts will likely be required
Work hours are generally at least 60 hours per week and can be longer
Agricultural employment - overtime does not apply.
Salary: $17-$18 per hour, depending on experience
