Position Description:

Under general supervision and consistent with the Credit Union’s mission, vision, guiding principles and brand statements, provides day to day work-leadership to assigned SR1s to ensure the effective provision of member services. Performs a variety of duties relating to the promotion and sales of credit union deposit products and services to non-portfolioed members. Assists with the day to day operation of the member sales and service area on an ongoing basis. Perform treasury and cash functions. Acts as joint custodian for negotiable and non-negotiable loan securities, vaults, safes, and other lock-ups, when required.

Schedule Description

Permanent Full-Time - 37 Hours per week

Monday, Tuesday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Wednesday Thursday: 9:30am – 5:30pm

Friday: 9:45am – 6:15pm

Note: Support to other Elk Valley branches through travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Secondary school diploma with a minimum of approximately 2 years related sales and service experience with EKC or another financial institution in a Member Service Representative role (or equivalent) plus:

  • CUIC 185 (Credit Union Products and Services)
  • All prescribed AML & Risk Management courses prior to dealing with members
  • All TLC Teller Courses
  • All TLC “Best”, “Estate”, “RSP” & “ORG” and “BAC” series courses
  • Registration for CUIC 240 (Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning) within 90 days of accepting position and completion within 12 months
  • Registration of 10 - 15 hours of the listed leadership learning in TLC - Skillsoft within 30 days of accepting position and completion within 3 months:

Directing Others, Understanding Change, Planning for Interruptions Helps with Procrastination, Coping with Conflicting Priorities, Decision Making: The Fundamentals, Decision Making: Making Tough Decisions, Developing the Right Attitude for Performing under Pressure, Motivating Employees, Leading Change, The Emotionally Intelligent Leader, Dealing with Conflict, Interpersonal Communication: Being Approachable and Interpersonal Communication: Listening Essentials

Successful candidates also require:

  • proficiency in written and oral communication skills and the ability to project a courteous, professional image
  • demonstrated knowledge of EKC products and services and familiarity with the current banking system
  • success in responding to member inquiries and providing a high level of member service
  • PC literacy with demonstrated keyboarding skills
  • basic understanding of Microsoft Word or other word processing software, and e-mail skills
  • ability to demonstrate basic mathematical skills
  • ability to deal with members, the public and co-workers in a courteous, friendly, professional and efficient manner
  • ability to identify member needs and match them with appropriate credit union and/or subsidiary products
  • ability to consistently focus on high-quality service with effective success in product/service delivery and member usage
  • ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all colleagues and members
  • ability to deal with difficult members, solve problems, work independently
  • ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced multi-faceted environment
  • ability to gain knowledge and skills quickly


  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful applicants will also be required to upgrade skills on a yearly basis by taking related courses as detailed in the Personal Learning and Development section of the PEP document for this position.
