Golder has a new opportunity for a Junior Scientist to join our Remediation & Risk team on a contract basis located in our Ottawa offices.
An overview of your role will include:
Assisting project managers with environmental related consulting projects including preparation of proposals, coordination and scheduling of resources;
Conducting environmental investigations including field monitoring and logging of test borings and groundwater wells and collecting samples for air, soil and groundwater;
Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and other Environmental Due Diligence related activities;
Participating in design and implementation of environmental remediation projects;
Collecting, analyzing and interpreting data and assisting with report preparation;
Developing your technical and project management skills and learning about the consulting business.
You will have to possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Natural Resources, or similar scientific/engineering disciplines;
Eligibility for P.Eng. or P.Geo. in Ontario;
Ability to work in field, including remote locations on a rotational basis as required. Field time may be as much as 75% of work time;
Ability to work weekends and evenings as required to meet project commitments;
Required valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
Experience in performing environmental work (as outlined in the position responsibilities) are considered an asset;
Knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04 requirements for Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments an asset;
Bilingualism an asset;
Demonstrated commitment to execute and deliver the highest quality service;
Excellent writing skills with proficiency using Microsoft products;
Strong skills in mathematics, data analyses, and technical writing;
Must be capable of effectively representing themselves in a professional setting and must possess good communication skills; and,
Candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to interact with colleagues while arriving at solutions to complex project problems.
