Palliser Furniture is looking to grow their IT Department with the addition of a second Server Administrator. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the Server Administrators are responsible for ensuring the availability and effectiveness of Palliser's server infrastructure and environments. As a key technical resource within the department, your experience and research will contribute to decisions related to the ongoing modernization of server infrastructure. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is passionate about technology and interested in working in a collaborative environment with support for professional development.

Duties include

Perform daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources and systems by reviewing alerts and logs to verify the completion of scheduled tasks
Ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and sent off site as necessary
Ensure system hardware, operating systems, software components and related procedures adhere to organizational and industrial standards
Participate in hardware and software implementation projects with opportunity for collaboration with internal departments as well as external organizations, customers and vendors
Engage in technical research and professional development to enable continuing innovation
On-call responsibilities to resolve emergency issues promptly as well as scheduled maintenance outside of work hours
Develop, update and maintain existing system scripts and configurations
Other duties, opportunities and projects as assigned
Knowledge & Skills

Minimum 5 years' experience working in an Enterprise virtualized server environment and performing maintenance of server infrastructure (software patches, hardware components)
Knowledge and first-hand experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Azure and multi-platform networks (Windows Server 2003-2016, Linux, MacOS) is required
Experience with Enterprise-class storage (SAN, NAS) utilizing Fiber Channel, iSCSI, DAS and NFS along with a broad understanding of network concepts (LAN, WAN) is required
Proficiency and experience with Office 365, Microsoft Exchange Server in a hybrid deployment, ADFS, Active Directory and supporting services (DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, etc.) is required
Required experience with web server administration (IIS, Apache, NGINX) as well as familiarity with SaaS and cloud-based technologies
Required knowledge and experience surrounding backup and disaster recovery technologies using products such as Veeam and Arcserve
Experience with Microsoft SQL server (build, migrate, administer) would be highly valued
Proficiency in the following areas is not required but would be considered an asset: AS400 (IBM iSeries), Amazon Web Services, scripting languages (PowerShell, shell scripting)
