The Comox Valley Hospice Society is a vibrant not-for-profit organization offering caring and support to individuals and their families who are dealing with life-limiting illness and/or the recent death of a loved one or friend. We are looking for a caring, compassionate individual with excellent office, organizational and relational skills to join our team.

The Program Assistant position is a regular part time staff position. While daily hours are set, some flexibility will be required.

The Program Assistant organizes and manages the administrative and clerical duties associated with palliative and bereavement client programs as well as volunteer programs. The Program Assistant is also primarily responsible for and oversees CVHS reception providing a welcoming, respectful and inviting environment. Opportunities for growth within the organization are available for the right candidate.

The successful applicant for the Program Assistant position will have previous office experience with work in a health, social services or non-profit setting preferred. This person will have strong written and verbal communication skills and be proficient with data management, Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications. Comfort with the dying process, and speaking with people dealing with grief and loss is essential. Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining a calm demeanor and presence is important.
