- Fridays 9am-1pm and Sundays 8:45am-2:30pm - Private and Group Swim Lessons throughout the week
- Private Swim Lessons throughout the week (i.e. Monday-Friday between 6am-4pm), dependent on customer requests
MANDATORY TRAINING DATES:
- Mondays & Wednesdays from 11:45am-4pm, and Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9am-1pm
- Monday-Thursday 3:45-7:30pm OR 3:45-9:45pm) and weekends (Saturday-Sunday 8:45am-2:30pm OR 8:45-4:45pm)
- Up to 12 hours of new-hire specific training, dates TBD
- Friday, January 3: 4:30-7:30pm OR Sunday, January 5: 2-5pm (In-Service)
- Sunday, January 5: 10am-2pm – Stroke Proficiency Course

What You’ll Do:
Maintain current certifications
Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Maintain a high standard of customer engagement
Attend and participate in all scheduled in-services
Attend and participate in professional development opportunities
Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports and administration
Handle or refer programs and situations as they arise in the facility
Maintain a level of fitness necessary to fulfill the practical elements of instructing
Develop and integrate new, unique and innovative ideas, teaching methods and games through the use of internal and external resources
Teach the Lifesaving Society and other Repsol Sport Centre Aquatic programs in a safe and effective manner.
Assist in planning, and instructing Aquatic Program special event days.
Responsible for keeping participants together and prepared to evacuate in case of a medical emergency.
Submit availability quarterly by the designated deadline
Instruct lessons a minimum of two three hour shifts per week.
Complete Aquatic Instructor Training Program before first teaching shift
Work closely with the Aquatic Program Manager/Coordinator/Aquatic Shift Leaders with development of Aquatic Programs short term and long term.
What You Need:
A strong work ethic and initiative relating to continuous improvement
Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving Instructor Certification (current) required
CPR C (recertified within one year) and Standard First Aid (recertified within 2 years) required
Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification (current) required
National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Level 1 or higher is an asset
Standard First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, and Swim and Lifesaving Instructor Trainer Certifications are an asset
Demonstrated leadership capacity
Knowledge of Aquatic sports and programs
Excellent customer engagement, communication, problem solving, judgment, skill in the application of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques, and the ability to deal with conflict diplomatically will help ensure your success
Your proven track record working independently and in a team environment is an asset. Experience with competitive lifeguarding/lifesaving an asset
Dedicated and reliable with a strong commitment to teamwork
Strong public relations and excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
A high sense of urgency, ability to think clearly while handling multiple priorities in emergency situations
Previous Swim Instructing experience considered an asset
