Job Summary:
In support of CSE’s mission, successful candidates are responsible for the assessment of cryptographic devices and systems that protect Canadian voice and data communications, and provide advice & guidance and support to Government of Canada (GC) clients.

Successful candidates also provide emission security (EMSEC) research, advice & guidance, testing and facility evaluation services, as well as PCB (printed circuit board) design and electronic manufacturing.

Activities may include:
Test and evaluation of cryptographic hardware, software and networking equipment in a lab environment
Design, development and prototyping of security solutions
Emission testing of facilities and products
Printed circuit board (PCB) layout and manufacturing
Domestic and international travel

Position Type:
Term and/or indeterminate positions can be staffed from this process, with a one (1) year probation period.

Salary Range:
UNI-06 level: $70,268 TO $82,670

UNI-07 level: $78,000 TO $91,763

UNI-08 level: $83,250 TO $97,943

UNI-09 level: $89,303 TO $105,060

These positions are currently eligible for a market allowance ranging from $5,809 to 12,103 annually.

The salary and market allowance are under review.

Position Requirements:
Education:
Graduated as a Technologist from a recognized post-secondary institution in a 3-year electrical, networking security, electronic, computer engineering, or related discipline, technology program, OR
Certification by Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) combined with courses pertaining to the position, OR
University degree from a recognized University in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, or related discipline, OR
Certified Technician with at least 7 years of experience in the disciplines mentioned above can apply for UNI 6/7 levels, OR
Applicants who have basic professional/occupational training along with specialty/advanced training and 10+ years of experience, who feel they have the necessary experience and/or assets may also apply.

Experience:
Specification, design, analysis, testing, or integration of hardware or software or communication products/systems/protocols, OR
Experience in any of the following areas: networking, telephone, VoIP, COMSEC, EMSEC/TEMPEST or RF/wireless, OR
Interacting with clients to provide IT Security solutions to meet their needs.

Assets:
Experience with COMSEC theory, doctrine, installation, modification and maintenance practices.
Specification, design, testing, or integration of wireless products/systems/protocols.
Application and project design using Wireshark, LabVIEW, VHDL, Java, C++ or C.
Skills in using industry standard CAE/CAD tools for electrical engineering and PCB application (e.g. Mentor Graphics, SPICE, Cadence, etc)
Use and maintenance of laboratory test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzer, logic analyzer, bit error rate tester, traffic generators, etc).
High reliability soldering skills and certification ( IPC-610)
Knowledge of printed circuit board layout techniques and guidelines.
Knowledge of EMC design guidelines for PCBs and systems.

Security Requirements:
Candidates must have no criminal record. The screening process involves a security interview, a polygraph test, a psychological assessment, and a background investigation covering a minimum of your last 10 years history, including credit and financial verifications.
