The Role :

Skellig is looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate in this role will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and ongoing support of our customers’ DeltaV process control and automation systems for continuous and batch processes.


  • Responsible for hardware design and implementation for DeltaV process control systems including process network infrastructure, servers, workstations, panels, wireless infrastructure, and other hardware elements as needed.
  • Engaging in pharmaceutical validation and automation processes following SOP, cGMP, GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Providing advanced technical expertise for implementing and supporting process control systems hardware and software (Emerson DeltaV), ensuring effective maintenance and availability of automation equipment. This includes installation, new projects, upgrades and capacity expansions, equipment upgrading and replacement.
  • Providing advanced automation system design for data integrity, stability and interface between different systems.
  • Supporting process automation projects, systems lifecycle asset replacement, system owner responsibilities involving automation change control, system maintenance, upgrades, and backup, disaster recovery.
  • Supporting plant operations to assess discrepant events and changes for automation impact, delivering automation solutions to resolve operational issues.
  • Providing consultation and technical assistance related to Emerson DeltaV Product applications, development and implementation of automation changes including integration with third party applications.
  • Providing process support for Emerson DeltaV DCS Systems ensuring timely and full resolution of automation related process and manufacturing malfunctions and failures.
  • Designing and implementing the batch code for various skids and commissioning support.

21 CFR Part 11 experience
OSI Pi experience a plus
Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Computer Science, related or equivalent
8+ years of experience in automation engineering

Work Location:

The project is based at a large vaccine manufacturing facility with a new DeltaV system, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.
You will need to be in the area for at least 12 months. We will help you and your family relocate if relocation is necessary.
