About the Role:

The Project Coordinator - Project Manager will play a crucial/supportive role for the CEO, Laboratory Operations Manager, and Algae Program Manager. As part of the leadership team, they will be required to be strategic, transparent, and committed to the continual improvement of the business and relationships with colleagues and clients. In addition, they should be detail oriented, demonstrate precision with the English language, and be highly organized and adaptable.

Duties of the Project Coordinator will include overseeing communication with clients, being an intermediary between laboratory operations and sales/finance, acting as the conduit of information from the client to the laboratory, and assist with the timely delivery of high quality and accurate data.

The functions include preparation of quotes and providing clients information on analytical options, and ongoing professional communications with clients regarding completed, current, and new work; responsibility for building and developing Biologica’s business scope and marketing; providing additional support to staff through mentorship.

Communication of complex scientific information is required; the Project Coordinator must have an in-depth understanding of Biologica's protocols and services.

The successful candidate must be proven to be proficient with Microsoft Office, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, be efficient, and work independently as well as closely with a team. They must have the ability to form long-lasting professional relations with the client, management, and peers and be an ambassador for Biologica.

Additional responsibilities, not limited to:

  • Client communications regarding upcoming and in-progress projects;
  • Ensuring client needs are met by anticipating and discussing issues and options;
  • Preparation of quotes through discussion of project requirements with clients;
  • Tracking and sending of invoices;
  • Maintain an organized email filing system;
  • Planning and executing occasional field support programs, including liaising with clients, shipment of field supplies, making travel arrangements for field staff, and troubleshooting/providing office-based on-call support to staff during field programs.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Biology, or equivalent work experience in this field
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with project coordination, management, and/or client services
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Detail-oriented and problem-solving skills
  • Experience collaborating with a leadership team with the ability to think independently and take direction as needed
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining timelines
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the position
  • A proven self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment, and find new ways to contribute and innovate during slower periods
