Main Purpose:

A Tire Installers' main role is to inspect, install, repair, replace, balance & rotate tires and wheels for all vehicles on and/or off road such as trucks, passenger vehicles, farm equipment, industrial, turf.

This position requires a high level of attention to detail. The tire technician must closely inspect tires and wheels for signs of wear and failure to ensure the customers safety as well as their own. As customer service is out top priority, the tire technician is to make the appropriate recommendations to the customer regarding their tire replacement and/or rotation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keep working area clean and in order
  • Inspect and test tires to determine if they conform to set standards
  • Provide feedback to customers & supervisors
  • Examine damaged/defective tires to determine the feasibility of repair
  • Recommend disposal when necessary
  • Repair tubes and tubeless tires with proper procedures: apply patches, plugs, removing nails or replacement of tubes if necessary
  • Prepare tires for installation purposes
  • Mount and dismount tires on rims
  • Verify and correct all tire air pressure
  • Properly balancing tires when necessary
  • Ensure that tires are properly rotated as per schedule
  • Operate, maintain and/or repair equipment and tools on a regular basis


  • Bilingual in an asset but not mandatory
  • Previous experience is an asset but not mandatory
  • Require a valid diver license
  • Punctual
  • Customer oriented
  • They may need to complete certifications and courses focused on tire repair and maintenance.
  • There are many opportunities for on the job training: technicians gain familiarity with the processes involved in tire inspection, repair and replacement
  • Commercial wheel installer certification
  • Familiar with performing activities such as raising vehicles using hydraulic jacks and operating hoists
  • The ability to place wheels on balancing machines, aim to determining counterweights required for wheel balancing work
  • Proficient in installing and reassembling tires onto wheels/vehicles and ensuring they are safely secured in placed and torqued

Working Conditions:

  • Tire Installers are exposed to rain, snow, and extreme heat or cold
  • This position frequently requires working additions hours such as evening and early mornings

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Bending, crouching and kneeling
  • Require the ability to lift a minimum of 50 Lbs*
