The opportunity: Reporting to the Managing Director, Canadian Retail Services, the National Director, Retail Marketing and Digital Strategy will lead our asset marketing teams and liaise with Leasing, Operations and Ownership groups in setting specific objectives to develop cohesive and effective marketing campaigns and strategies for our managed assets across Canada. This position involves a variety of tasks including the planning, organization and control of all shopping centre marketing programs in collaboration with the marketing teams in the field while leveraging digital strategies and innovations to maximize program effectiveness and ultimately drive shopping centre sales and productivity.
What you will do: The National Director, Retail Marketing and Digital Strategy’s Core Responsibilities include:
Provide overall marketing leadership, guidance and support to the field marketing teams for BentallGreenOak’s retail assets across Canada.
Provide leadership in the development of strategic marketing plans, advertising campaigns, merchandising events, promotional activities and public relations programs. Lead the updating of marketing plans including associated budgets and implementation strategies. Ensure measurability and develop KPIs for all marketing efforts.
Lead and mentor the marketing teams to deliver best in class service and performance.
Serve as a resource throughout the marketing planning and budget process and monitor financial activity as it relates to the preparation and distribution of monthly marketing financial statements and promotion funds.
Develop and implement an overall digital marketing strategy and experience for retail which includes web-based information channels and web applications, data collection and tracking methods, performance dashboards, and mobile device applications. Drive innovative change in the retail marketing group in relation to market and customer targets.
Staff & Customer Management
Lead in the hiring, training and development of marketing and customer service staff in conjunction with the General Manager. Stay abreast of developments in customer service and innovation.
Enhance and foster strong merchant relationships and participation levels. Attend annual merchant meetings and special meetings as required. Lead and guide the creative process for communicating major center renovations, improvements and significant events.
Guide and foster the exchange of marketing ideas and activities and promote the implementation of innovative and creative strategies within the marketing group.
Corporate & Retail Business Unit
Ensure brand consistency through all marketing channels, liaise with BentallGreenOak’s global marketing and communications function, and provide leadership in strengthening the company’s overall corporate reputation.
Lead and coordinate any advertising efforts in trade publications on behalf of the Retail team.
Provide leadership and support to the Leasing department for leasing advertising and brochures, web applications and asset advertising, site signage and branding, leasing presentation materials, special events.
Assist in the planning and marketing aspects associated with ICSC functions and conventions for the retail team with Leasing coordinators and Senior Retail leadership.
Establish strong industry relationships and participate in industry functions to further promote the BentallGreenOak Retail brand.

Sales Performance & Research
Work closely with property teams to maximize tenant sales. Lead a collaborative effort between center teams and tenants to create programs that will drive sales. Help develop effective and timely sales reporting in collaboration with the BentallGreenOak’s Business Innovations Group.
Lead and promote a consistent, robust research effort into each market and report on trends. Lead the gathering and analysis of data from campaigns and advertising efforts and develop reporting metrics.
Who you are:
University degree or diploma in related area (marketing or business administration), a CMD or related designation.
A minimum of 8 years of proven marketing and digital strategy experience. A strong predilection to the digital and e-commerce realm including retail innovation and web technologies is to be demonstrated (on-line tools, social media etc)
Strong strategic, leadership, analytical and management skills with a strong focus on results.
Proven ability to work in a dynamic, continuous improvement environment.
Strong, effective communicator capable of blending creative expression and critical analysis in making compelling recommendations.
