The Opportunity

Our client manufactures and sells food service and packaging products for retail consumers, food service operators, and the packaging industry throughout North America. They are currently seeking an experienced Territory Manager for Western Canada reporting into their District Sales Manager

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Plans daily activities to meet short term and long term goals
  • Assist customers in reaching sales potential on Company products
  • Respond to all customer problems/opportunities promptly
  • Ensure timely follow-up of credit problems
  • Interact with all direct accounts and at retail store level where applicable
  • Ensure effective investment of accrued marketing/merchandising funds for food service distributors and jobbers
  • Assure effective wholesale and retail coverage, proper shelf management
  • Secure and maintain competitive retail shelf prices on all Company products
  • Effectively service existing accounts as well as develop new accounts to increase usage of our clients’ products at all levels
  • Work with their distributors and their sales representatives to develop new business, including holding sales meetings periodically
  • Communicate to Director of Sales any situation/need relevant to their business within the region
  • Collect and communicate market, competitive and other useful information to improve marketing and sales planning
  • Prepare daily reports, weekly itineraries, month end reports and expenses to be reviewed with Sales Director on a continuous basis
  • Review monthly Sales Analysis Report of account performance
  • Provide forecast updates of all accounts managed
  • Attends Regional/National and Special Projects meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in a related field
  • Related sales courses an asset
  • 2 to 5 years progressive sales experience
  • Experience managing key accounts
  • Self starter with a determination to succeed
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Power Point
