TEACHING POSITIONS AVAILABLE
SD72 (Campbell River) Continuing Teachers, PLEASE NOTE:
1. Continuing teachers interested in, and qualified to teach, this position should complete form Appendix II(b) Expression of Interest in Posting by the Posting deadline; and,
2. If SD72 Continuing Teacher(s) submit a completed Appendix II(b) form, expressing their interest in this position, they will be considered ahead of any other applicant(s).
19-008 SD72 will have openings for 1.0 FTE French Immersion Kindergarten and/or Kindergarten/Grade 1 teaching positions at École des Deux Mondes and/or École Willow Point, for the 2019/2020 school year.
The successful candidates for these positions will have the following qualifications pertaining to both the teaching of Kindergarten and French Immersion:
A certificate in Early Childhood Education, combined with the completion of a minimum of nine (9) university credits in Primary methodology courses, is required (a commitment to completing the necessary coursework may also be considered);
Previous experience in one of the following is required:
a) Teaching in Kindergarten b) Employment in an Early Childhood Education Centre (e.g. pre-school, Strong Start);and/or, c) Student Teacher practicum in a Kindergarten classroom.
Demonstrated knowledge in the understanding of “The Primary Program: A Framework for Teaching”;
Understanding of the developmental level of 4, 5, and 6 year old children;
Familiarity with “Making Linkages:
How the BC Early Learning Framework Links to the Primary Program: A Framework for Teaching”;
Demonstrated understanding of play-based learning and its importance, combined with the ability to plan and implement classroom routines that support play-based learning;
Understanding and ability to explain the importance of explorative play and students’ engagement in artistic activities;
Ability to provide opportunities for students to learn through art, music, dance, visuals, or drama;
Ability to plan for diversity by using differentiation in accordance with current inclusive educational practices;
Fluency in French;
Successful experience teaching at the appropriate level, preferably combined with post-secondary training in teaching French Immersion;
Enthusiasm for teaching French language and a clear knowledge of the culture;
Creative approach to lesson design to promote active participation;
Strong knowledge of Immersion and its pedagogy;
Willingness and enthusiasm to be a member of a dedicated school team with shared goals.
Ability to demonstrate sound “assessment for learning” practices; and,
Ability to demonstrate how current practices align with SD72 beliefs.

**Placement on salary scale is subject to verification of experience and certification and will be done in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
