Pourquoi ce role est-il important?

This role is accountable for vendor management from the food safety and quality perspective and is responsible for ensuring safety and quality standards for new and existing products are delivered.

The Quality Assurance Specialist must work collaboratively with each Business Units (BU) members and vendors to support the new product development process and ensures regulatory compliance.

Accountabilities:
Understand retail environment and the challenges.
Have knowledge of products and vendors within the category.
Have knowledge of distribution and handling of products within Supply Chain
Conduct vendor risk assessments for new and current vendors and make recommendations in accordance with our Vendor Operating Standards.
Conduct technical and risk based reviews to ensure all food safety and quality aspects have been considered for new developments.
Develops technical label copy, evaluates packaging (if required), product formulations and claims documentation to ensure the compliant labeling of products against the appropriate regulations, guidelines, internal labeling standards & policies
Collect technical documentation for ingredients and nutritional from white label vendors.
Maintain accurate ingredient and nutritional information in the different systems used.
Support Business Units (BU) in the review of preliminary concepts to help provide direction and strategy for new and existing products.
Resolve food safety and regulatory issues raised internally, or by government agencies. Initiate corrective action as required. Act with pace and efficiency during investigations and ensure timely resolution.
Remain up-to-date on food safety and quality trends, issues and initiatives in the food industry.
Act with pace and efficiency during investigations and ensure timely resolution of customer complaints, safety and quality issues.
Conduct sample evaluation to ensure product quality consistency and determine on-going acceptability of existing products
Ensure projects meet requirements based on health and safety, company policies, regulations, functionality, store, and customer expectations.
Vendor management from the food safety and quality perspective and is responsible for ensuring safety and quality standards for new and existing products are delivered.
Requires sporadic audits for white label vendors.

Role Requirements:
Bilingual (English/French) is a strong asset
University education or equivalent in food science and nutrition and/or chemistry
Minimum 5 years’ experience with consumer products labeling
Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Food & Drugs Act and Regulations and other consumer packaging regulations is an asset.
Working knowledge of HACCP and GFSI and its application in food industry.
Work effectively as an individual with minimal supervision and as a team member
Able to influence and interact effectively with all levels at retail/distribution, vendor and office locations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Creative problem solving skills
Straightforward practical way of thinking about things or dealing with problems,
Result oriented
Highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
Travel (may be required and could include local and national).

Key Measures (Performance indicators):
Effective development of compliant packaging.
On-time delivery of milestones and overall team results.
Effective completion of special assignments as required
