Title: Assistant Superintendent, Special Projects

Reports to: Manager, Special Projects

Position Summary

Scott Construction is a well-known and trusted General Contractor & Construction Manager based in Western Canada. With offices in Burnaby and Calgary, Scott has been providing construction management services and building relationships since 1984. Our diverse portfolio of projects finds us building amazing complex structures to smaller renovation projects for clients in the commercial, residential, institutional, industrial and special projects sectors.

The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for providing supervision, coordination and scheduling of special projects construction activities and assisting management with supervision of the project.

Roles & Responsibilities

On site supervision and coordination of trades
Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, schedule and budget
Partner with management team, including the Project Manager and subcontractors to maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manner
Establish and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
Develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budgets are in jeopardy
Review and update the construction schedule
Provide leadership to peers ensuring all site staff are adhering to the company safety culture
Maintain appropriate field documentation
Organize weekly subcontractor meetings

Technical diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
5+ years supervisory & construction experience in commercial renovation projects up to $10M
Proven ability to manage day to day activities of field staff
Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with Procore experience an asset
Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, methods and procedure
Excellent relationship building skills and a track record of integrity when dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants
