Reporting to the Director of Facilities Management & Ancillary Services at Grenfell Campus with oversight by the Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety at St. John’s Campus, the successful candidate will deliver EHS field services for Memorial University, Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook. Duties include: provide oversight and guidance on occupational health and safety compliance; respond, record and report EHS concerns and incidents and recommend corrective action; act as an EHS advisor to individuals, departments, and committees regarding EHS related concerns; deliver education and training as required; perform technical workplace inspections and assessments to ensure legislative compliance; prepare follow-up reports; complete risk assessments where needed and assist in the development of required safe work procedures; conduct required safety reporting, including safety statistics and trending; conduct analysis of statistical data; maintain information systems, identify trends, performance indicators and strategies for improvement, develop strategies to resolve EHS issues; participate in investigations of accidents, near misses, alleged unsafe practices, and other incidents; complete incident investigation reports and other duties as required. Proficiency in laboratory safety management processes and contractor safety management would be an asset.
Experience (3-5 years) in occupational health and safety legislation; graduation with an undergraduate degree with major course work in science, engineering or a related field; an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to make decisions; the ability to interact at all levels of the organization and across businesses; and the ability to effectively and efficiently coordinates action as part of an EHS team. Effective communication and excellent writing and public speaking skills are required.
SALARY $57,146 - $77,923 per annum (Management & Professional)
