Description:
During regular business hours the position will be involved in patient flow escalations and managing the patient flow staff. During non-regular business hours the Site Managers are the primary contact and proxy manager for all on-site staff in the event of an emerging issue by providing immediate assessment and coordination of the concern and act accordingly. Incidents may include handling a mass casualty, flood, fire, anticipated act of violence etc. The position would also work collaboratively with Unit Managers across the site to assist in managing workplace health and safety or patient safety concerns during the non-regular business hours; Site Managers would have opportunities during the day shifts to liaise with Unit Managers and other leadership to ensure consistent management around the clock. The incumbent would assist in facilitating problem solving between units and be a site resource for all frontline staff requiring support. The role is responsible for escalating patient care concerns and coordinating the resolution of issues across the site and would report up to the Edmonton Zone Capacity Management and/or Zone Senior Leader Acute On-Call during non-regular worked hours and report directly to the Senior Manager, Site Operations and indirectly to the Executive Directors across the site. The Site Manager provides effective resource management to ensure the site is efficiently utilizing resources to function at optimal capacity. The managers will oversee the patient placement assistants to support and lead the coordination of patient flow ensuring bed allocation and patient movement guidelines are followed.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program (BSCN). Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a complex acute care hospital setting. Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated organization, analytical, judgment and decision making skills. Exceptional leadership abilities demonstrated by developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships, conflict management and team building skills. Ability to manage and prioritize a demanding workload and work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters prepared in Nursing, Health Administration, Public Health, Leadership, or Business. Work experience in an Emergency Department, Critical Care area, Bed Management/Allocation, and Management an asset.
