Location: The Executive Learning Centre (ELC) is located at Schulich School of Business in York University. ELC offers unique 60 executive type Guest Rooms, 150-seat Dining Room, Reception Lounge, Coffee Shop, and Student Eatery. The facility also offers the finest quality of food for conferences, meetings, events, and receptions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Position Overview : Maintains the cleanliness of all guest rooms and other assigned areas, such as storage rooms, stairwells, hallways etc. in accordance with the objectives, performance and quality standards established by the Schulich School of Business - Executive Learning Centre (ELC) to ensure that guests are fully satisfied and provided with excellent service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs all duties required to maintain the cleanliness of the guestrooms and other assigned areas including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning, scrubbing, making beds, washing walls, floor care, linen/bedspread/blanket/pillow sham cleaning, dust and damp mopping, spray buffing, spot removal, shampooing, emptying garbage, furniture and appliance cleaning, changing linen, etc. in accordance with the set standards.
Checks and ensures that all room items or equipment such as phone, TV, radio, remote control, lighting, air conditioner, heating, blinds, door locks, drawers, tub and sink drains, sliding closets, window, etc. are present and operating in good condition
Handles inventory and replacement of guest supplies such as linen, toiletries, soap, shampoo and other consumable bathroom supplies.
Sorts, compiles, stores, folds, and sends linen for laundry
Understands and follows all safety procedures to maintain a safe environment
Understands all emergency procedures so that in the event of an emergency, the procedures are executed with accuracy and in a timely fashion.
Maintains assigned cart and stocks before leaving each day following all Standard Operation Procedures related to this position.
Reports room maintenance problems, e.g. wall scratches, bulb replacement, toilet clogging, plumbing, appliances, etc. in a timely manner.
Assists in handling guest requests and concerns in an efficient and timely manner.
Consistently strives to improve the communication process and always follows up with the ELC Facilities Manager for duties.
Ensures proper key control at all times.
Assists in check-in and check-out of guests, e.g. carrying of luggage.
Performs and complete other projects that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Skills:
Ability to operate all the cleaning/housekeeping equipment; Minimum High School diploma required. A minimum of 1 year experience as a Housekeeping Attendant in a hotel will be considered an asset.
Applicants will be required to service and to clean 16 -18 rooms daily. Applicants must be able to lift up to 50lbs. This position requires strong physical ability to handle the cleaning tasks. Applicants must have excellent customer-orientation and attention to details. Demonstrates ability to speak, read and write the English language.
Wage & Benefits:
Pay/hour: $15.43 starting and $17.01 after probationary period
Benefits: As per York University CUPE Union Collective Agreement
