As our Human Resources Generalist, you will play a key role within the Operations and Human Resources teams. The work will be interesting, varied and require high-quality in all areas of Recruitment and HR. The person in this role will have the ability to remain highly confidential, reliable and handle multiple projects while contributing to the goal of delivering consistently positive experiences and outstanding customer service. Reporting to the Personnel Manager, you will contribute by providing leadership in Recruitment and Human Resources to Horizon’s Operations team in diverse areas such as: talent acquisition & onboarding; talent management; employee engagement; training & development; health & safety; investigations; employee relations; pay and benefits administration and effective records management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Act as a front-line resource by providing advice on Human Resources related matters and policy interpretation to Rig Managers, Field Supervisors and employees, as well as making recommendations on problem resolution. This can also include developing and delivering information sessions on Human Resources related matters to managers and employees.
Respond to client needs by providing expertise on various Human Resources matters such as performance management and disciplinary action forms.
Work directly with the Personnel Coordinator to make sure all new hires and rehires receive their new hire package and their offer letter.
Track and maintain weekly crew changes, terminations, transfers, holidays, for all rigs.
Responsible for proper off boarding for all Horizon Employees, including leading exit interviews, data analysis and reporting all learnings back to the operations team.
First point of contact answering employee requests and questions regarding benefits, RRSP, leaves, etc.
Assist in employee benefits coordination, initial sign up and changes where needed.
Ensure the effective utilization of plans related to HR programs and services.
Advise operations on Horizon’s performance review and termination policies, processes and processes.
Act as a point of contact to internal/external candidates, resources, clients and coordinate Human Resources processes.
Conduct special projects and make recommendations on improvements to Company programs.
Research and gather information, analyze data, write reports and memoranda.
Work closely with the Personnel Coordinator and collaborate with rig managers on a regular basis to pro-actively identify future hiring needs.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the company's business and culture to help candidates fully comprehend and embrace the career opportunity and to ensure talent identified is aligned with the right opportunities based on business demands and candidate preference.
Play a key role in the full-cycle recruiting process (intake, postings, sourcing, referrals, screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding).
Attract candidates using various sources, such as social media, job boards, and other professional network to recruit active and passive candidates for current positions and build talent pipelines for future opportunities.
Be Horizon’s subject matter expert on Social Media and will be responsible to lead all of Horizon’s Social Media platforms, including designing all content.
Work closely with the Personnel Coordinator to ensure that pre-access drug testing and onboarding requirements are met prior to mobilizing the new hire to site; where applicable.
Provide monthly training reports for all active rigs and schedule current employees for any training when and where needed.
Be Horizon’s subject matter expert on the use of our applicant tracking system, Taleo, and will work together with our experts on rolling out our online onboarding program.
Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process while promoting Horizon’s reputation as “best place to work”.
Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, professional standards and applicable laws and regulations
Attend project kick off meetings as required.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
3-5 years of experience in providing direct advisory services in the areas of Human Resources and Recruitment
Formal education in Human Resources and/or an RPR designation is an asset.
Human Resources and Recruitment is your passion.
