We are looking for an energetic, well organized and detail-oriented individual to join our Manufacturing Team as Production Planner/Scheduler. Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations Manager, your will provide the detailed Production schedule to the Manufacturing Facility, driving efficiency while ensuring that customer expectations are met. You will act as a gatekeeper to ensure upstream and downstream activities are not disrupted due to changes made to the production loads that would otherwise interrupt execution activities. You will drive the processes through Purchasing and Logistics and adjust the schedule on an ongoing basis based on client demand, forecasts and production needs.

Responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Develops and manages the Production Schedule to satisfy external and internal Customer demand while optimizing production resources and minimizing inventory.
  • Participates in regular production scheduling meetings for capacity and material review.
  • Provides the interface between Customer Service, Internal Customers and Production with regard to delivery commitments for all demand. This includes delivery schedules for new demand and revised schedules for existing demand as required.
  • Plans materials purchases to the master production schedule with reference to corporate Inventory Targets.
  • Balances part demand history and production forecasts for planning floor stock inventory levels.
  • Plans and manages the physical inventory count.
  • Assists with implementation of changes to improve inventory accuracy including warehouse management, job kitting, introduction of barcoding, etc.
  • Creates build plans from forecast data ensuring finish goods levels are controlled.
  • Creates Production Schedules from build plans ensuring customer priorities and finish goods mix is controlled.
  • Communicates schedule releases and changes, issues work orders on a timely basis for all production lines.
  • Tracks finish goods levels relative to firm orders and adjust schedules to maintain target inventory.
  • Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Education, Work Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Post-secondary education with a Certificate in Manufacturing Planning (CPIM certification) and/or APICS certification preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of Demand Flow, JIT, Forecasting, Inventory Planning, Kanban and Supply Chain design for a manufacturing operation and warehouse.
  • Working knowledge of implementing PULL SYSTEMS to control shop floor Work Centres, Lean Manufacturing techniques, calculating takt times/flow etc., and 5S deployment/sustainability.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems related to materials, scheduling, MRP, MPS, BOM operations/processes.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to influence and impact others.
  • Disciplined in prioritization and organization of work.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Working knowledge with of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook) with advanced Excel skills.
