My client is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Manager for their large North Vancouver offices to oversee the Accounts Payable Team, and to ensure all money owed by the company is paid out correctly and in a timely fashion. The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for liaising with customer vendor relations, accounts payable disbursement, process improvement, AP data quality and related accounting functions. Inventory management skills are ideal, as well as Team management skills; and commodities tax knowledge from BC, Ontario and Quebec. My client is seeking five years of experience as an AP Manager or in the accounting department. Strong knowledge of Excel and Outlook and an in-depth knowledge of AP principles and general accounting principles are required.   • Manages Accounts Payable team by recruiting, coaching, counseling, appraising and disciplining employees with careful planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Builds and maintains relationships cross-functionally
  • Evaluates processes and recommends methods to improve efficiency
  • Improves efficiencies by creating and implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Protects company’s assets by monitoring, and enforcing internal controls, policies and procedures
  • Prepares, weekly, monthly and special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Ensures that all required paperwork, records, documents, etc., are kept according to the legislation, regulations and company’s policies
  • Completes special projects as assigned
  • Manages, supports and communicates working capital requirements from an AP perspective
  • Complies with all Departmental and Company policies, procedures, and programs
  • Promotes and maintains a flexible, cooperative, team-oriented, and customer focused attitude within and between departments
  • Keeps the Assistant Controller aware of pertinent issues and information warranting their knowledge, action and/or resolution
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Ensures a safe work environment by understanding and following safety procedures and reporting injuries or unsafe acts


  • Minimum five years of experience in a management position for high volume accounts payable processing department
  • Preference for candidates with Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or related field
  • Management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Outlook
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and management principles and accounts payable procedures, including ability to prepare, and reconcile accounts
  • Project management and implementation
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time-frames and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Work requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Knowledge of MXP and Access is an asset
